Gesneriad Genera
There are approximately 3 300 known species of gesneriad worldwide found on all continents exept Antarctica. Gesneriads are tropical to subtropical (rarely temperate or alpine) herbs, lisnas, shrubs and rarely small trees. They can be terrestial, epiphytic, or lithophytic.
THE MOST COMMONLY KNOWN KINDS OF THE GESNERIACEAE FAMILY ARE:
Achimenes, Aeschynanthus, Alsobia, Chirita, Codonanthe, Columnea, Episcia, Eucodonia, Gloxinia, Kohleria, Nematanthus, Petrocosmea, Saintpaulia, Seemania, Sinningia, Smithiantha a Streptocarpus.
